Luján River Valley "Protected Countryside"

What if I change the Valley Luján River and thousands of people populate it, as in Escobar, Pilar and Tigre, forever changing our wetlands and our way of life?

Why talk of "protected landscape?, What we mean? Are areas with special characteristics that provide us with valuable services of different kinds. For this reason, deserve to be registered as protected landscapes. They may be places with fossils or archaeological sites that have a particular fauna or flora or scenic beauty, and those "essential to preserve places of natural biodiversity and cultural and environmental goods and services they provide to humanity."

Among the latter, are wetlands Luján River Valley, to which we must protect to not lose the beneficial features that provide for nature and us humans.

Luján River Wetlands are formed because of the overflowing river, that is, are natural areas where the river drains when there are storm surges and heavy rains. There are deposited sediments that brings water with the nutrients needed by plants. Grasslands, usually neglected, they also have an important role: to absorb nutrients and filter out toxic substances, besides being valuable regulatory flood.

if they violate nature, we will face consequences and expensive, that will fall on the state and us taxpayers. For example, if we raise the flood area (filled) to gated communities, it will flood somewhere else, probably inhabited and is not prepared to counter these unfortunate events. Escobar area, the dam of Lujan is a very low: it was the ancient seashore. There in that area, where filtering of pollutants, are being gated. Today, dirty river water flooded the homeless. "There are other large projects that were installed or planned to do on the floodplain of the Río Luján, for example, Pilar, neighborhood and San Sebastian Pilará in the process of construction. And in the Bell game, right in front of San Sebastián, plan the implementation of a megabarrio of 1.100 hectares. All this, even though there are laws that protect wetlands and prohibiting building below the altitude of 5 meters above sea level. Nor, apparently, care about the negative consequences that cause these buildings. Example: when it rains, residents living in the coastal plain area opposite the Pilará, are flooded. To fill to build Pilará was altered river runoff area and the water just overflows onto the opposite shore.

On the other hand, we note that the effluent, both sewage and industrial, discharged without any treatment in the river that runs nearly 100 km from Suipacha, where born, to Mercedes, San Andres de Giles, Lujan, Pilar, General Rodriguez, Exaltation of the Cross, Campana and Escobar. "The heavy metals that carries the river, they sink to the bottom and when dredge to fill, often do so with the mud from the bottom. It would be healthy discuss these landfill sludge and make assessments of environmental goods and services that are earned and lost, and besides, who wins and who loses in these works.

Neighbors Cardales Rio Lujan and ask that the new Municipal Land zonifique the floodplain Luján River as "Protected Countryside" to:

. Protect the landscape, the valley of the Río Luján, with the necessary interaction between the wetland or wetland and the communities that inhabit them.
. Maintain traditional practices of land use such as ranching and agriculture.
. Preserve rural life almost have: low noise, warmth, comfort, safety and nature.
. Provide opportunities for public enjoyment, education and knowledge.
. Promote sustainable development of economic activities over time, preserve the social and cultural fabric of communities. Some of the activities to be developed are the ecotourism, rural tourism or severally, beekeeping, handicraft production and enterprises related to the wetlands, horticulture, animal husbandry, among others.
. I appreciate the wealth of flora and fauna and environmental services that wetlands provide, by filtering the water to enrich the groundwater water quality, moderation of climate, carbon storage, subject to biological pest controllers, fodder for livestock and others.

was long ignored the importance of wetlands. In some places in the U.S. and Europe ruined much of the wetlands and are now spending millions of dollars to recover.

If the new Code Planning is considered the floodplain area of \u200b\u200bthe Luján River as Protected Landscape, would be well defined there can be no fillers or works to prevent the natural river runoff.
